General info

We just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our family and friends!

So…

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry about the sparse posting this last week or so. It’s been exam week, on top of some other things. But I promise we’ll have some new pictures of Elliot up soon. Good ones, too. ;)

  • We keep a daily chart of Elliot’s movements (standard procedure at our health care provider), tracking how long it takes for him to have 10 movements in one sitting. It’s usually 10 minutes or less, and often just a few minutes. Tania says it feels like he’s feeling around, trying to find the exit–y’know, kind of like when you’re trying to find your way to the bathroom in the dark. We keep telling him he’s not finished yet!
  • I think I’ll take that chart and OLAP it… :D
  • The San Antonio Spurs rule.
  • Those “New Parents” classes that hospitals conduct should have large “Explicit Content” labels displayed in plain sight on the front doors. Geez. At least warn a brutha’.
  • Lil’ tip from Tobias: do your kids a favor and buy American toys this holiday season. Or European toys. Or make your own toys. Just stay away from those “made in China” toys. From high lead content, to chemicals metabolizing into the ‘date rape’ drug , to just super-shoddy quality, the toys from China really are worth the trouble of avoiding now. Of course, it is trouble avoiding them. The estimates of Chinese toys on American store shelves seem to range from between 80% and 90%. And this year’s toy recall is the biggest in U.S. history. Heck, people, kids don’t need that many toys. And since most toys don’t get a ton of play time anyway, getting less of them–the right ones, as best you can–makes more sense, for both finance and safety.

We’ve all believed some of ‘em. Heck, we’ve all unwittingly spread a few of ‘em. Come on, admit it. They just make so much sense sometimes! :D

I saw this list recently and noticed a few items that I’ve heard said. Who knows, you might find something you thought was true, even though you didn’t know why you thought so!

Hello everyone!

Well, Tania is pregnant with our first baby! We’ve got ideas for names, but since we don’t know the sex of the baby at this point, we’re affectionately referring to our baby as “Peanut.” :) Mostly because in the first ultrasound picture we had (at 6 weeks) our baby looked like a little peanut. Also it sounds a little nicer than “Blob.”

Blog? Why? Darn geek parents…

A few reasons. First, we wanted to share the experiences of our first pregnancy with our family and friends. B, we wanted to have a place online you can go to for this stuff instead of us filling up your email inboxes. Fourth, refer to point C. The best-of-both-worlds option is to subscribe to this blog through an RSS feed. If you need help with that, shoot me an email.

Tania and I will be doing our best to keep this blog up to date with all the happenings, pictures and other info.

Please feel free to leave comments, questions, or credit card numbers!
